NERVE PAIN & DAMAGE

Your nervous system is involved in everything your body does, from regulating your breathing to controlling your muscles and sensing heat and cold.

Symptoms of Nerve Pain & Nerve Damage

With nerves damage there can be a wide array of symptoms. Which ones you may have depends on the location and type of nerves that are affected.
Damage can occur to nerves in your brain and spinal cord. It can also occur in the peripheral nerves, which are located throughout the rest of your body.

1. Motor nerve

These nerves regulate all the muscles under your conscious control, such as walking, talking, and holding objects. Damage to these nerves is typically associated with muscle weakness, painful cramps and uncontrollable muscle twitching.

2. Sensory nerves

Because these nerves relay information about touch, temperature and pain, you may experience a variety of symptoms. These include numbness or tingling in your hands or feet. You may have trouble sensing pain or changes in temperature, walking, keeping your balance with your eyes closed or fastening buttons.

3. Autonomic nerves

This group of nerves regulates activities that are not controlled consciously, such as breathing, heart and thyroid function, and digesting food. Symptoms may include excessive sweating, changes in blood pressure, the inability to tolerate heat and gastrointestinal symptoms.

PERIPHERAL NERVES CAN BE DAMAGED IN SEVERAL WAYS

  • Injury from an accident, a fall or sports can stretch, compress, crush or cut nerves.
  • Medical conditions, such as diabetes, Guillain-Barre syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Autoimmune diseases including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren’s syndrome.
  • Other causes include narrowing of the arteries, hormonal imbalances and tumours.

KEEPING YOUR NERVE SYSTEM HEALTHY

The nervous system is such an important part of your body. You want it to work at its best so that you can be at your best.

Your nervous system contains what is probably the most important part of your body, which, of course, is your brain.
Your brain allows you to learn, feel emotions like love, anger, and sadness. It gives you the ability to see, hear, taste, touch, and smell.

It works together with the nerves and spinal cord to send the signals that make your body move such as running, jumping, playing sports, and all your daily activities.

WHAT IS ALPHA LIPOIC ACID (ALA)

Alpha-lipoic acid is an organic compound found in all human cells.
It’s made inside the mitochondrion — also known as the powerhouse of cells — where it helps enzymes turn nutrients into energy.

Alpha-lipoic acid is both water- and fat-soluble, which allows it to work in every cell or tissue in the body.

Humans only produce ALA in small amounts. That’s why ALA supplements are important to optimize their intake. As supplements can pack up to 1,000 times more ALA than food sources.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

  1. Alpha Lipoic Acid protect the whole cells by destroying free radical formed either in water-soluble form or fat-soluble form. Alpha Lipoic Acid enhances the body’s ability to use its own insulin to lower blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Alpha Lopoic Acid also helps reduce symptoms of peripheral neuropathy – nerve damage that can be caused by diabetes.
  2. Inositol– strengthens the neurotransmitter.
  3. Benfotiamine helps to promote nerve repair, the absorption rate of Benfothiamine is approximately 5-fold compared to thiamine.
  4. Vitamin B6 plays a role in dopamine and serotonin production (neurotrasmitter that supports the central nervous system).
  5. Vitamin B12 helps to protect neurotransmitters, generally not present in plant foods, vegans must use daily supplementation.
